Planning - Props (30)

For my music video there are many props that I will require in order to set the right atmosphere for my narrative. Most of the objects I need I will be able to find either in my house or I will be able to borrow them from friends. There are a few things however which I will need to buy as they aren't things which can be easily made at home.

 The props I will need are:
  • A phone
  • Photographs
  • A raft
  • A tea-light
  • Rings/bracelets
  • Sparklers
  • Rabbits
  • Dogs
  • Police badge
  • Camera
  • Paper boats

The phone, tea-light, jewellery, rabbits, dogs and camera I will be able to provide, borrow from friends for my filming. Only two of these props I will have to borrow from people and that is the phone and the dogs. I will have Lucy who will play the daughter in my video to bring her phone and use that instead of her using my own. This is just for the reason the she is used to her phone and it will be easier for her to use it than use mine. The dogs I will borrow from my aunt as she doesn't live too far from me and so will able to easily drop them off for me.
Green   - Things I will have to buy

The sparklers and the police badge are the two props which I will have to buy as they aren't things which I can make. Although I could try to create a fake police badge, it would be hard to make something that looks convincing and so I feel it would just be easier to buy a cheap realistic looking one from amazon.
Yellow - Things I will have to make/create

The photographs and the raft are the two props which I will have to create from my music video. At each location I go to with my cast I will take photos of them laughing and hanging out which can then be attached to string and strung up in the daughters bedroom. I will also use photos of the locations and the animals to string up as well as the photos I personally have with Lucy. Because me and Lucy are friends outside of filming I have many photos of us and our other friends which I can also use to string up around the daughters bedroom. I will also easily be able to make the paper boats as I already know hoe to make them.The raft however will be a little more difficult to create and I will have to watch some videos/read how to create one which will float and hold a few small objects.

What are you trying to find out in your research? In my research I am trying to discover many things which will help me in developing my A2 coursework. The main thing I am trying to discover is whether people still consume music videos and what the age range is of people who consume them. I am also trying to discover what other media products people consume and if they think that my idea for a music video is a good one or if i should change elements of it.  When conducting my research I went out into Wymondham town to ask people the questions as apposed to just asking people in the sixth-from. There are many strengths to doing this, the main being that it gives me more reliable data. In the sixth-form there are only students and teacher so just asking them my research questions limits the demographic response of my data to just students and teachers. Me and Rosie were randomly given a question and a nursery rhyme which we could use as a stimulus to create our music video. The question we were given was Should I get a tattoo? and the nursery rhyme we were given was Jack and Jill . These were the two points that we could use to help create a music video, and we could choose to incorporate either both or one into our video. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks? In my personal opinion I feel that the combination between my video and ancillary tasks are very effective. Within all three of the products I incorporated the same photographs so that the synergy between the products were clear. One of the main elements of my music video was the father looking back at the good memories with his daughter through photographs which were hanging up in her room. Because of how important the photos were in the video I felt that it was vital to incorporate them into the ancillary tasks as well. Typically within solo music videos the focus is on the artist and this is then incorporated onto the cover of the digipack and album release poster too.
