I've watched a new film (9)

What was the film? The film I chose to watch was Forrest Gump which stars Tom Hanks as the main character. The film is about a boy who has a low I.Q but good intentions. His childhood is spent with his only friend Jenny before he joins the army to fight in Vietnam. Throughout his life he achieves many things, winning medals, meeting the president and being captain of a shrimp boat, though none of this is as important as his childhood sweetheart Jenny. The majority of the film is told by Forrest Gump on a bench re-telling his life to strangers while waiting for a bus. When he reaches the present time he tells the strangers that he received a letter from Jenny and that he is going to meet her. From here he discovers that he has a son and decides to marry Jenny. Not long after this she dies of a virus and the film ends with his child waiting for the bus for his first day of school. Have you ever heard of the film before? Lip-sync or not to lip-sync? (7)

Difficulties with using lip syncing  These are student made music videos which use lip-syncing in the majority of the video as well as a narrative. Problems which can occur when using lip-syncing in music videos is that the syncing may not be in time with the song. If this occurs it can make it very difficult during the editing process to get it back in time with the song. If the video has both narrative and lip-sync then it makes it easier to cover this up, but if the whole video is lip-sync then it can be harder. Another problem which can occur with lip-syncing is that the singers doesn't really show much emotion in their face or enunciate what they are singing which can make it seem like they are mumbling and not actually singing the song. When you have someone lip-sync you want them to almost be over the top so you it seems like they are actually singing the lyrics rather than just mumbling. Our practice task - Music video key timeline (6)

Music video Timeline Why were music videos created? In the 1930's when 'Screen Songs' were introduced, these videos were made with the intention of getting audiences to sing along to the songs and have fun. This was used to help publicise the songs/artists as well as to get the audiences more involved with the songs by encouraging them to sing along with them. In the 1960's more modern styles of music videos were created which actually included the band in them. This again helped to promote the songs/artists and put a face to the name for audiences. These types of videos helped to promote the band along with their songs. In 1981, MTV was created which helped in promoting the music videos to audiences. This would help the marketing of albums for the artists as their songs would be played on the TV which many people would see, and then it would encourage them to buy the albums. It also helped to promote bands/artists by showing their music videos which could
